AU Faculty Showcase Thai Craft Innovation at SACIT Symposium 2025

Assumption University of Thailand (AU), through the Montfort del Rosario School of Architecture and Design, participated in the SACIT Symposium 2025, held on 7–8 August 2025 in Bang Sai District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province. Organized by the Support Arts and Crafts International Centre of Thailand (SACIT) under the theme “Crafting Sustainability across ASEAN and Beyond,” the symposium brought together participants from nine countries to exchange knowledge on cultural heritage, creative industries, and sustainable development.

Representing AU, Ajarn Ornlaor Homsettee and Ajarn Dr. Ananyaa Kannasoot presented their research in the Traditional and Fine Crafts category, highlighting the application of circular economy principles, sustainable product development, natural materials, and value-added innovation to Thai handicrafts and local creative products.

The presentations demonstrated how research and innovation can help traditional Thai crafts evolve while preserving cultural identity and creating new economic opportunities. The symposium also provided an international platform for AU faculty to share knowledge, exchange ideas with scholars from different countries, and explore opportunities for cross-border academic collaboration.
