MSME Students Empower Local Farmers through Social Entrepreneurship Project

The BEN4316 Social Entrepreneurship class (2024), under the Department of Global Business Management (GBM), MSME Business School, Assumption University, led by Dr. Jenette V. Puyod, successfully conducted a social impact project at Pakchan Mueng Farm, Lat Krabang.

The students implemented a variety of initiatives to enhance the farm’s visibility and business operations, including:

  • Creating a website and Google Maps listing
  • Establishing a social media presence, including a TikTok page
  • Guiding farmers to partner with delivery services such as Grab, Lineman, and Lalamove to provide fresh vegetables efficiently to customers

A central component of the project focused on building a social business model based on the triple bottom line: people, planet, and profit. The farm emphasizes supporting community well-being by providing organic vegetables at fair prices and creating employment opportunities for local residents. Students also proposed impactful branding and packaging strategies to increase the marketability of the farm’s products.

Relevant SDGs:

  • SDG 1: No Poverty – generating income and employment for local communities
  • SDG 2: Zero Hunger – providing access to healthy, organic food
  • SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth – promoting sustainable livelihoods and entrepreneurship
  • SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production – encouraging sustainable farming practices and resource efficiency
  • SDG 13: Climate Action – supporting environmentally responsible agricultural methods

Through hands-on engagement, students gained practical experience in social entrepreneurship while empowering local farmers and promoting sustainable community development.
