The Institute for Research and Academic Services (IRAS), Assumption University has successfully conducted its 2024 Academic Service Program, focusing on providing knowledge and expertise to communities surrounding AU campuses. Through careful assessment of local needs, RIAS collaborated with various Schools to organize impactful academic service activities, enhancing education, health, culture, and community development.
Key Activities by School:
- Bernadette de Lourdes School of Nursing Science
- Conducted workshops on the dangers of e-cigarettes and training in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for teachers and students of Wat Preng Bamrung Rat School on September 2, 2024.
- Objective: Equip participants with knowledge on e-cigarette hazards and practical CPR skills to save lives effectively and timely.
- Theodore Maria School of Arts
- Hosted the “Arts Open House 2024” on September 5, 2024, at AU Suvarnabhumi Campus.
- Objective: Provide teachers, parents, and students the opportunity to explore teaching and learning in the Faculty of Arts, including workshops on Phonics and Classroom Research.
- Louis Nobiron School of Music
- Participated as judges and mentors in singing competitions for Bang Sao Thong and Bang Bo school groups, involving a total of 30 schools (August 7, 2024, and February 14, 2025).
- Objective: Provide guidance, constructive feedback, and encouragement to students performing Thai traditional and contemporary songs.
- Albert Laurence School of Communication Arts
- Provided consultation and assisted in designing energy conservation campaign materials for Klong Sabatjak School through the project “Little Klong Sabatjak 3Rs – Energy Saving” on March 28, 2025.
- Objective: Promote awareness and good practices in energy use, reducing costs and fostering sustainable resource management.
- Thomas Aquinas School of Law
- Organized a workshop on “Laws and Key Operations for Subdistrict Headmen and Village Headmen in the Modern Era” for local leaders in Bang Bo and Bang Sao Thong Districts, Samut Prakan, on August 8, 2024.
- Topics included: 1) Authority and duties of local leaders related to community peace and order. 2) Importance of alternative dispute resolution and community leadership to ensure justice and sustainable livelihoods.
- Montfort del Rosario School of Architecture and Design
- Hosted the “Art and Design Festival 2025” on February 4–5, 2025, at AU Suvarnabhumi Campus.
- Activities included workshops on creative architectural design for local students, seminars on integrating creativity into community development, and discussions on “Wisdom Village: Applying Innovative Ideas to Drive Local Product Development Globally”.
- Objective: Foster creative skills, strengthen community engagement, and promote sustainable socio-economic growth in Bang Sao Thong and Bang Bo districts.
