Bold Ideas for a Fragile Planet: AU Students Inspired to Act for Nature

Assumption University of Thailand (AU) strengthened its commitment to environmental education and sustainability through a special guest lecture by Dr. Petch Manopawitr, a prominent conservation scientist and biodiversity advocate, held on July 4, 2025, at AU’s Hua Mak Campus.

The lecture brought together students, faculty members, and environmental enthusiasts to explore conservation science, sustainable development, biodiversity protection, and community-based environmental action. Drawing on his experience in Thailand and internationally, Dr. Petch shared real-world examples of how scientific knowledge, innovation, and community participation can be translated into practical solutions for environmental challenges.

As President of the Bird Conservation Society of Thailand (BCST) and co-founder of ReReef, Dr. Petch highlighted the importance of integrating conservation with social innovation and sustainable entrepreneurship. Through case studies and interactive discussions, students were encouraged to rethink the relationship between people and nature and explore opportunities to contribute to environmental conservation through science, policy, entrepreneurship, and eco-innovation.

The session reinforced AU’s commitment to developing environmentally responsible graduates equipped with the knowledge, awareness, and motivation to contribute to a more sustainable future.
