Assumption University Prepares to Host the 10th Art and Cultural Excursion, Empowering Youth Through Thai Heritage

Assumption University of Thailand (AU) continues its commitment to preserving Thai arts and culture while empowering young people through education and cultural engagement. On June 18, 2025, Rev. Bro. Sirichai Fonseka, f.s.g., Ph.D., President of Assumption University, chaired a preparation meeting for the upcoming 10th Art and Cultural Excursion of the Ruamchit Normklao Foundation for Youth under the Royal Patronage. The meeting was held at the Public Relations Department Meeting Hall and brought together representatives from relevant organizations and partner agencies to coordinate preparations for this significant national youth development initiative.

Established in 1994, the Art and Cultural Excursion has become an important national initiative dedicated to promoting cultural pride, youth development, and the preservation of Thailand’s cultural heritage. The 10th Art and Cultural Excursion 2025, scheduled for October 21–25, 2025, is being organized through collaboration among Assumption University, the Ruamchit Normklao Foundation for Youth under the Royal Patronage, and government and private-sector partners.

As part of the initiative, scholarship recipients and youth representatives from all 77 provinces of Thailand will be selected to participate in an educational and cultural journey designed to deepen their understanding and appreciation of Thai traditions, values, history, arts, and cultural identity. Through direct experiences and cultural activities, the program seeks to strengthen young people’s sense of belonging and responsibility toward the preservation and continuation of Thailand’s cultural heritage.

As the host university, AU has entrusted its Office of Thai Arts and Culture under Student Affairs with leading the coordination and implementation of the event. This role reflects AU’s commitment to integrating cultural education, youth development, and community engagement while providing young people with meaningful opportunities to learn from Thailand’s rich cultural heritage.

The Ruamchit Normklao Foundation for Youth under the Royal Patronage, established in 1982 to commemorate the 200th anniversary of Rattanakosin, was initiated by Her Royal Highness Princess Galyani Vadhana and Mom Ngamchit Burachat, with support from ten leading national organizations. Over the years, the Foundation has awarded more than 35,000 scholarships, with a total value exceeding 287 million baht, helping students from disadvantaged backgrounds access education at various levels.

Through its partnership with the Foundation and participating organizations, Assumption University is proud to contribute to an initiative that brings together education, cultural preservation, youth empowerment, and social opportunity. The 10th Art and Cultural Excursion represents not only an opportunity for young people to experience and appreciate Thailand’s cultural heritage, but also a platform for passing cultural knowledge and values from one generation to the next.
